A Seed is Planted
As a medical transcription service, we face the common difficulty of finding qualified medical transcriptionists to fill our expanding needs. With this struggle, a seed was planted that started with the question, "What if we could train our own MTs?" The idea that we could give a person the knowledge required to be a qualified MT and at the same time groom them to be a TRS employee was so appealing that we began planning the process.
It is a wonderful sense of accomplishment and pride knowing that you are giving back to a career field and a community. The knowledge that you are providing a much needed skill set to individuals and that you are training them to be productive MTs for your company is an overwhelming concept, but one that TRS knew could be accomplished.
Hopefully, we have planted a seed for you. It is our desire that seed will take root and grow. Watching an individual embrace and succeed in a career as an MT is very fulfilling and rewarding.
Where are we in this process?
TRS has partnered with two overseas companies that had the desire to improve their communities' economic condition by offering a new skill set and new opportunities to their neighbors. They saw medical transcription as a way to achieve this goal. TRS has worked with them to develop and implement MT training programs and production environments. This has been very successful for these countries and, in the process, has helped TRS see that planted seed begin to grow.
We have a strong program based on the AHDI model curriculum. It includes everything needed in a successful MT training program.
In March 2007, TRS Institute will offer our first online program domestically. This is very exciting as we begin to bring this training to grow MTs in the US who are desirous of entering the profession!
Training the way YOU want it
MT employers now have the ability, through the use of our program, to train individuals as MTs and groom them to work specifically on their accounts during internship and beyond. The program can be tailored to fit any situation from on-site classroom training to online training. Furthermore, the program can be enhanced to include a company's transcription style guide, account specific and format instructions, and QA guidelines. There are several other areas that can be tailored to fit individual company needs.
Our future plans
As we continue to look at the TRS Institute future, we are focusing on other areas of training pertaining to healthcare documentation and electronic healthcare record systems.
