Focus on Education

Helping employees, helps the company

TRS believes in and supports the concept that medical transcriptionists and quality assurance editors should be provided dynamic opportunities through a progressive, creative program of continuing education.  Creativity is essential for the company to keep up with the dual challenges of an ever-changing and broadening base of medical information, while availing itself and its employees of exponentially expanding technological opportunities.  Creating an ongoing vision for meeting needs and motivation to embrace progress are indispensable and are the driving forces behind the company's focus on continuing education. This creativity provides avenues for employees to prepare for the future changes in healthcare documentation and stay ahead of the curve in this arena.

In support of its belief that continuing education is the hallmark of success, TRS fully pays for AAMT membership for managers, supervisors, and the entire QA team.  This enables these employees to avail themselves of every opportunity for professional growth through continuing education.  The company also offers payroll deduction and a corporate discount for all of its transcriptionists to take advantage of the opportunities for continuing education and certification available only through AAMT.  TRS recognizes that all involved in patient care documentation, whether on hand or in remote environments such as those of home-based transcriptionists, supervisors, and quality assurance team members, must be cognizant of the impact of errors on the critical flow of patient care.

TRS has followed in AAMT's footsteps by embracing the unique webinar format of meeting and training opportunities for all employees.  Recent webinars have covered HIPAA regulations in a user-friendly format and ethics in the workplace. Employees have also benefited from an educational session provided by a company customer on a medical topic, which provided an opportunity for direct interaction with the healthcare provider for whom the MTs are providing service, something that previously was unavailable to a remote workforce.

The unique style of webinar meeting and training enables presentations to be saved for future review and use by those unable to attend.  Topics are selected based on employee input which identifies areas in which the employees wish to increase their knowledge. The company encourages its employees to teach on topics in which they have expertise. This also allows those employees, serving as presenters, to develop their public speaking skills.

All presentations are done on AAMT- creditworthy topics, allowing those who are CMTs to utilize the education for their CE requirements for recertification. TRS takes the position that the webinar format for education and professional development is essential to a well-rounded, progressive mindset for its employees.

By bringing professional development to each employee's own door, opportunities which had previously been out of reach by virtue of geography are no longer beyond the realm of possibility.
